How Daniel Used To Do It

Saturday, June 2–Daniel Fowle founded The New Hampshire Gazette on October 7, 1756. Last October we celebrated our 250th Anniversary. To honor Daniel and remind ourselves how far we’ve come, we sponsored the appearance, at Strawbery Banke, of Jack Williams and his reproduction of of an 18th century wooden common press. Jack built the press using plans included in the book, The Common Press: Being a Record, Description, and Delineation of the Early Eighteenth-Century Handpress in the Smithsonian Institution, by Elizabeth M. Harris and Clinton Sisson. We post this here, now, just to celebrate our finally figuring out how to make a YouTube video work here.
