Speaking of newspapers, in 1955 Union Leader publisher William Loeb wrote an editorial referring to President Eisenhower as the “Prince of Appeasement.”
Back then people who thought like Loeb were considered crackpots. These days Ike would be drummed out of the GOP for his liberal tendencies and Bill Loeb would be considered an elder statesman.
