Tuesday, July 13, 2010 — And you thought yesterday’s post about the Monkey Gap was bizarre. That was nothing! We present Robin Marie Potwora, of Torrington, CT, the founder Main Street Bites Back: UPDATE: — We just got off the phone with a spokesperson for the National Park Service. He confirmed that the Park Service has indeed received a permit request from Glenn Beck to use the Lincoln Memorial grounds for his “Restoring Honor” rally on August 28th. Logistics for the event are being worked on. When and if an agreement is reached, a permit will be issued. God bless America.

Why We Lost in Vietnam: The Monkey Gap
Monday, July 12, 2010 — Thanks to the Chinese government, we finally know why America lost in Vietnam. It was the Monkey Gap. The Internet is abuzz this morning with a story emanating from the People’s Daily Online, headlined “Monkeys trained as battlefield killers in Afghanistan.” The story goes on to say that a “British-based media agency,” had photographed “monkey soldiers” trained by the Taliban and armed with AK-47s and Bren guns in Waziristan. Most of the reporting on this story concerns the implications for the future in Afghanistan. Friday, July 16, 2010 — Today’s Gazette — the physical, newsprint-based lifeform, not this silicon-dependent appendage — includes a note directing people here for news about the Memorial and Sarah Mildred Long bridges, explaining that the topic has become so volatile we can’t do it justice in print. For example, the Maine – New Hampshire Connections Study, on whose recommendations the fates of the bridges rest, had scheduled a Stakeholders Meeting for today.
