Hupp Day at Strawbery Banke

Wednesday, July 21, 2010 —The 2010 New England Seacoast Region Hupmobile Club Tour visited Strawbery Banke on Tuesday, July 12th. As promised in our paper of July 16th, we’re posting some photos of these elegant vehicles here. OK, granted, the event was, like, nine days ago, but these are old cars we’re talking about here. It’s not like it was breaking news.

Thursday, July 15, 2010 — The Christian Science Monitor’s Marjorie Kehe interviews one of our local heroes today: Tom Holbrook, owner of RiverRun Bookstore. On September 8th, 2006, the bookstore moved from Commercial Alley (where Tom’s used book shop, SecondRun Books, is now) to its present location on Congress Street, several blocks away. Tom asked his customers if they would form a box brigade to help him move. We didn’t count, but so many people said “Yes” that they were able to form a nearly unbroken chain six hundred feet long. John Sinclair Performs at Jazzmouth

Saturday, April 24, 2010 — Jazzmouth is now underway. Here’s a brief clip of John Sinclair at The Press Room last night. We’re could say it was electrifying, but that would give electricity way too much credit. Nothing this little screen can do will convey the power of being there, but one more little clip can’t hurt. Monday, March 8, 2010 — Finding a parking space in Portsmouth can be a challenge for anyone. Those who appreciate the finer things in life are used to taking these challenges in stride, however — the driver of this Mercedes-Benz E350 ($48,000 – $86,000), for instance. Early Monday afternoon, he parked his elegant buggy (New York plate number EUW 1284) athwart the crosswalk at High and Congress streets. The driver did not appear to be particularly thrilled when he saw that his handiwork was being documented.
