Monday, January 7, 2008 — It is the eve of New Hampshire’s much-ballyhooed First in the Nation™ Presidential Primary. Forty-eight hours from now a second set of digits will be associated with the names of the leading candidates, and the hirelings of the media corporations will go thundering off to the next arena. National interest in our state will vanish as surely and as quickly as this cheerful fellow. For the record, it was 45 degrees Fahrenheit at noon today. Tomorrow the mercury is predicted to rise into the low 50’s.
This morning’s indicators look ominous for the candidate of the Democratic party’s establishment. The Republican party looks much like the space shuttle Columbia did when last seen, arcing over Texas in flaming bits and pieces.
Our archaic journal may survive the next four years, or not. Likewise, the republic. This morning we read of small gunboats “harassing” American ships in the Straits of Hormuz. Shades of the Gulf of Tonkin. Who is watching Cheney? We’d like to know.
Where’s the hope? For a lot of people, it’s in a black man on a white horse. For us, it’s in a constellation of little, free, independent newspapers, loosely associated with each other, blanketing the nation with a strain of news that’s broken free from the bonds of corporate commercialism.
Sadly, it doesn’t exist yet. Perhaps it will before the next New Hampshire primary – should one be held.

As a contender for President. You clearly show that under pressure there is a question mark. You;re likely to crack.
You expect to be taken seriously? You expect people to want a leader sitting in the White House crying when things get tough.

The publicity will fade fast, but the difference we make will not. We are at crossroads of status quo or change. I see Hillary and McCain as old and tired and lacking innovation. Obama and Romney are all about innovation and progression. Romney is an expert at making things, including people, better. Obama, is fresh and alive. Obama and Romney both inspire us. Let’s help make this State and country better.
New Hampshire:
Don’t bite on the Obama lure.
Don’t go for the charisma. Look for real substance. Sen. Barack Hussein Obama isn’t giving specific details of what he will do as president. He’s all flash and no substance.
Please, take your position seriously as the first true primary and do the right thing.
Vote for the candidate who is giving specific details of what he will do as president – John Edwards.
Don’t buy the Obama hype!
